ESF at the National Coalition of Chiefs’ Clean Energy Summit

Last week, ESF was proud to participate at the National Coalition of Chiefs Clean Energy Summit 2026. ESF Chair, Shannon Joseph, delivered a keynote highlighting ESF’s international engagement work, bringing the voices of global customers to Canada and helping connect Indigenous Nations involved in energy projects with their international partners.

This work helps ensure First Nations understand what their international customers need, and supports a more coordinated voice into the Canadian policy space to achieve stronger, more practical outcomes for resource development. At a time of growing global uncertainty, this kind of united front within Canada has never been more important.

The Summit builds on the National Coalition of Chiefs’ ongoing efforts to bring together industry, researchers, and Indigenous leaders to foster meaningful dialogue on advancing development in ways that deliver shared, long-term benefits. Central to NCC’s mission is ending on-reserve poverty, and responsible economic development has proven to be one of the most effective pathways to achieving that goal across many Indigenous communities in Canada.

ESF is grateful to contribute to these conversations and to support partnerships that strengthen both economic opportunity and energy security at home and abroad.

Looking Ahead

Across this event, participants emphasized the same conclusion: Canada’s energy advantage lies in partnership, between Indigenous and industry leaders, and between Canada and its global allies.
