As he steps down, we want to bring forward how his contributions to advancing Indigenous leadership in Canada’s energy sector and in energy policy have left a lasting impact. These are some of his key achievements:
Global advocacy for LNG
Billy engaged with global leaders, including the Government of Canada and G7 representatives, to promote Indigenous led LNG projects. His efforts helped bring Indigenous voices to the international stage, advocating for LNG as a solution for energy security and economic growth.

Representing Indigenous Leadership at COP28
Billy played a key role in discussions about the intersection of LNG, speaking on a panel, alongside Karen Ogen of First Nations LNG Alliance and Chana Martineau of the Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation.

Sharing knowledge on the global stage
Billy was part of an international panel of Indigenous leaders that presented at a Naturgas conference in Bogota, Colombia. He emphasized Canada’s learnings on the importance of partnership in achieving economic prosperity while advancing responsible resource development.
